Is it acceptable to throw a graduation party for a college graduation?

By

I’m just curious on what is proper or typical? I graduated just a few weeks ago and no one that I know of is throwing a graduation party. There were a few group parties thrown (bars). But nothing like a high school graduation.

A friend of mine that attended a different school is throwing herself a party (similar to a high school party) and I was just wondering if that was normal?

I was thinking maybe it was just my school that doesn’t do it?

Anyways! Just curious on what is appropriate!

Just because others in your class have not had a party is no reason to stop you. Maybe they don’t want one, or have no one to help with it or worse yet no one to invite.

This is a milestone in your life. Yes you should have a party. I know that I had to go part time when I went to college. I was already employed and living on my own, but my mom traveled the 600 miles to be at my graduation and to throw me a graduation dinner party.

I know my situation was different, but a party is a party is a party.

You deserve it.

By the way, CONGRATULATIONS! I AM PROUD OF YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENT.

I just graduated and got a bachelor’s degree and my family threw me a Barbecue graduation party. I didn’t think it was unusual neither did the people who attended.

If & when one of my kids graduates college, I will be throwing a block party.
