I’m trying to plan ahead. I’m a junior and a guy. Possible things he may like: We went to a Lady Gaga concert. He also likes Ke$ha, math related stuff, running, philosophy, etc. Any ideas? I want to get him something memorable. Thanks and God bless.

1. HE likes Ke$ha? hahahhhhahahahhahahahhahahaahhahhahahhhahahaha
#2. How the fuck r we supposed to know, we dnt know the guy.
#3. I say buy him a blow up doll cuz hes gonna need it in college, since hes a dude and likes ke$ha i doubt hes gonna get any.

I was invited to the graduation party of the children of a colleague of mine (one graduated high school, the other, college). I gave each of them a birthday gift for their most recent birthdays, and neither one of them has ever thanked me at any time that I have seen them since. I was thinking that maybe I should just bring a pie or something to contribute to the party (it’s an outdoor party that lasts from 3-8 pm), but no specific graduation gifts. Or, should I not even do that?

Definitely bring a gift. Even a small token. Chances are good that a party type situation (like a grad party) will warrant thank you cards. Plus, bringing a gift will not stale things with you colleague. A small token will definitely be worth it.

I am graduating high school this month and my close family want to get me gifts. My parents are buying me a Macbook. I would like other ideas for my other family. I was thinking about an iPad but im not sure if that would be worth the money if im getting a macbook. Keep in mind, I am going to school in the city for fashion. Any ideas? What would come in handy in college?

Don’t get two computers–decide if the Macbook/or Ipad is better for you–and go with whichever one is better.

If you are paying for school yourself, you could ask for some of the books/supplies you will need in your first year, to save yourself some money.

Where will you be living? If dorms, do you need to pay your own ‘food credit balance’-that could be good, if not in dorms–maybe pots/pans/cooking supplies you may need.

Do you need/want new clothing? Giftcards or specific item requests could be good.

Basically, be happy&grateful for anything you get, but, if asked, what do you envision yourself needing/wanting in the next year that you do not already own?

A find it awkward writing hey thanks for the cash ha ha! Something casual yet nice

Something like:

Hi xxx,

I wanted to thank you for the generous graduation gift. It will definitely help with my numerous upcoming expenses (college, clothes for job, rent, etc) as I get started.

Then you can enter some personal notes about your plans or it was nice seeing them (if they were there).

Thanks for thinking of me,
xxx
