I’m just curious on what is proper or typical? I graduated just a few weeks ago and no one that I know of is throwing a graduation party. There were a few group parties thrown (bars). But nothing like a high school graduation.

A friend of mine that attended a different school is throwing herself a party (similar to a high school party) and I was just wondering if that was normal?

I was thinking maybe it was just my school that doesn’t do it?

Anyways! Just curious on what is appropriate!

Just because others in your class have not had a party is no reason to stop you. Maybe they don’t want one, or have no one to help with it or worse yet no one to invite.

This is a milestone in your life. Yes you should have a party. I know that I had to go part time when I went to college. I was already employed and living on my own, but my mom traveled the 600 miles to be at my graduation and to throw me a graduation dinner party.

I know my situation was different, but a party is a party is a party.

You deserve it.

I want to get my parents something for my graduation to thank them for everything they have done for me, but I am having a hard time coming up with ideas. Anyone have a good idea?

dinner out is nice, but it’s not a keepsake.. Or get a picture frame and a picture of you and them at your graduation (or just the 3 of you together) and have the frame engraved. Say something along the lines of ‘thanks for helping me achieve’ or something like that. You can find all kinds of quotes at Brainyquote.com.

Whatever you get your parents will love it. But if you get them something they can keep, they’ll treasure it. What you’re suggesting shows how sweet you are and it’ll give them something to brag about.

I am in a odd situation. I have my graduation ceremony next week for 9th grade and the graduation party is right after it at a fancy restaurant. Some rich kids parents are hosting it and everyone in the grade was invited. Here is the problem. The ceremony is semi-formal attire and the party is formal attire. What should I wear? I don’t know if I should change or wear the same thing to both

Well, for the ceromony will you be wearing one of the gown things??? You could just wear a nice dress under that and wear another dress to the after party, but if thats not in the budget you could always just choose a dress suitable for both occasions and wear that to both.
